The 18 Chinese Weapons 十八般兵器
I am a martial artist, plain and simple. I don't claim to be the best, or the most knowledgeable about weapons. Suffice it to say I am familiar with them. I studied Japanese in high school and had a lot of interest in their culture and martial arts. Since then in I've drifted over from the Japanese sentimentality and culture over into the Chinese realm, where I lived and studied for 2 years, and developed a passion and drive to learn that I have never been able to let go of.
In 2015 I came across a documentary that mentioned the "18 weapons," and that to be considered a true master of martial arts one had to be proficient in the use of these 18 weapons. Yet it never went on to mention exactly what those weapons were. My curiosity was piqued. After some lengthy research, I found that there was little to nothing on the subject in English.
This wasn't so much a problem for me since I am somewhat fluent in Chinese. But as with most people, once you learn something, you feel obligated to share it with someone else. This is my effort to branch out and share what I've learned.
